Dr. Unterman was born in California and attended the University of California for both his undergraduate and graduate pre-dental education. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UCLA, and graduated with honors as well as being awarded membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. He completed a six-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Texas Medical Center in Conjunction with the University of Texas and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During this program he earned his Medical Degree at Louisiana State University and graduated a member of the John McDonald General Surgical Society. After completing his medical degree, he completed a one year General Surgical Internship at the University of Texas, Houston affiliated hospitals.
Dr. Unterman maintains an active dental and medical license within the state of Texas, and is Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support certified, as well as, a certificate in microsurgery and laser techniques. Dr. Unterman joined Northwest Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, P.C. in July, 1999. He, his wife Mylene, daughter and son live in The Woodlands, Texas.
