Background Information

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and injuries, of the face, mouth, dentition, jaws and neck, the placement of dental implants, preparation of areas for implants removal of wisdom teeth, other teeth, pathologic and cosmetic problems. Our seven surgeons work closely with one another and with other referring doctors in a wide range of specialties to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Northwest Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery takes great pride in bringing our patients the latest in high-tech, comfort-oriented oral surgical care. We have more than 50 cumulative years of experience. Continuing education is an important tool keeping oral and maxillofacial surgeons up to date on new developments in the field. Our surgeons accomplish this through national meetings, seminars, lectures, special courses, panels and symposia.

The doctors of Northwest Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery recognize that educating patients about the procedures performed is a critical element in providing the highest quality patient care.

Drs. Dwyer, Clark, Repa, Williams, Unterman and Lalani provide I.V. sedation within our state of the art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery. In addition, general anesthesia provided by an anesthesiologist is available within our facility if so required.

Because of the scope of practice in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, it is necessary for oral surgeons to obtain hospital privileges. The doctors of Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery have privileges at Memorial Hermann Hospital of The Woodlands.

The highest achievement of an oral and maxillofacial surgeon is board certification. This assures their training, education and ability to treat any injury, disease or other related problems. This achievement also helps to ensure the patient of the ability of the surgeon.

It is a requirement of the doctors of Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery to obtain and maintain their board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Office Staff

The surgical staff of Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is experienced, certified in oral and maxillofacial surgical assisting. All of our surgical staff are certified by the American Association of OMS Anesthesia program. Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery surgical staff members are certified under the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, policies and procedures. In addition, our staff includes informed, experienced administrative personnel who are well versed in dealing with health and insurance issues.

All of our staff, administrative as well as surgical are CPR certified.

Our support staff at Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is experienced and highly involved in assisting and maintaining the highest standards. They have many years of experience in the medical and dental field. Our support staff is courteous and friendly.
